Henry Purcell’s famous opera Dido and Aeneas, a poignant tale of ill-fated lovers, is restored to its original musical dimensions by Australian pianist and conductor, Geoffrey Lancaster. The earliest surviving libretto for the work, dating from 1689, contains material for which the music has been lost, including an entire Prologue, a chorus at the end of Act 2, eight dances and a spoken Epilogue. Now, thanks to Lancaster's sensitive reconstruction of the missing music, audiences can savour this classic English three-act opera in its miraculous entirety
