Teaching - Lute, Guitar and Theorbo

Casey is an informed and active teacher of plucked instruments and historical performance practice. He teaches privately, and as a sessional teacher at The University of Melbourne. If you are interested in learning more about the renaissance guitar, lute, archlute, baroque guitar or theorbo please use the contact button below.

Note: There are so many things to consider when taking the plunge into playing the lute and it can easily get overwhelming. It may be worthwhile visiting some of Casey’s instructional blog posts HERE which aim to demystify many topics related to the lute and early plucked instruments. Alternately get in touch below!

From the comfort of your home.

Casey has students based all over the world. If you are in regional areas, or a part of the world without lute teachers, consider Skype or Zoom for remote lute lessons!

“I've been studying Renaissance lute and theorbo with Casey, he's got an incredible knowledge of the instruments and historical performance practises. Casey tailors his lesson to my goals, he covers everything from technique and theory, to instrument maintenance, finding the right instrument and performance readiness. Casey has been great with diagnosing issues with my technique and helping me overcome them with a positive and encouraging attitude. I feel privileged to take lessons from an early music expert right here in Melbourne.”

Koosha, Lute and theorbo student, The University Melbourne.
